Visitors to Seattle should consider a trip to The Farmer’s (Public) Market which is located at 1st Avenue and Pike St. This historical place has been servicing locals with produce since 1907. A big piece of the Emerald City’s history can be found here as well as a flavor for the Pacific Northwest. This is a great activity regardless of the weather. The Market is in operation whether it’s rainy or sunny. This place is a photographer’s paradise. Here are several pictures taken here on a beautiful Spring day. The tulips and daffodils were gorgeous.

We spent an enjoyable day in early March at the Ballard Locks. It was a chilly and sunny day which made for an invigorating walk around the park.
Mr. Chittenden arrived in Seattle in 1906 as District Engineer for the Army Corps’ of Engineers. He arrived to find a plan underway to build a wooden lock for the Lake Washington Ship Canal connecting Lake Union with Puget Sound. He shifted public support to build two concrete locks instead. By the time work began on the locks in 1911, he had already retired from the Corps’ due to health. He was born in 1858 and died in 1917. He graduated from West Point and served at Yellowstone National Park and Yosemite before coming to Seattle.
